Poncho revival?

Back in the day, I had a RTW poncho that I really enjoyed wearing. It was great as an extra layer that you could easily remove if the weather warmed up. That garment didn't last long in my wardrobe because the fabric was low-quality, but I always wished that I would have tried to duplicate it.

Enter the With Love Poncho from Pattern Emporium. I bought the pattern earlier this year but had not had a chance to sew it yet. I love how many options it has for the neckline, plus sleeve and length variations.

For this version I opted to keep it simple because I only had 2 yards of fabric to work with, which was a bit less than the pattern calls for. I made a size 8 with the "Weekend" neckline (a foldover cowl neck) in the shorter length and longer sleeves. I did not add pockets, but I did do the optional stitching lines on the sides to create sleeve openings.

The fabric is a lovely soft sweater knit that I purchased from Knitpop. it's very soft and drapey but has a nice weight to it. The burgundy/wine color is one of my favorites.

I really love how this version turned out and I've already worn it to work with faux leather leggings. It's a great casual piece that is perfect for transitional weather.

I am a Pattern Emporium affiliate. If you make a purchase using my link, I receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I purchased this pattern with my own money.

    1. Thanks, Kay! I think you should go for it, as it's a pretty easy sew. if you don't like it at least it wasn't a huge commitment.
