Love and Liquor

This pattern has unusually detailed instructions but they aren't hard to follow. The pattern was fun to knit, but if i had a do-over, i would have knit both socks at the same time b/c it's easy to get off by a row or two and end up with socks that aren't exactly the same.

The way the cables meet at the heel looks very attractive but i have my doubts that it will wear well. i'll just have to wait and see on that one.

The one thing that really bummed me out is that i ran out of yarn on the second sock with about 1.5" of cuff to go. i finished them with some of my indigo-dyed valley yarns franklin but the color/texture match wasn't that close. at least it's at the top of the socks and not noticeable when worn with pants. i should have known better b/c i only had 400-ish yards and the cable-rib pattern consumes yarn. just be warned if you use a similar combo that you might have to make the cuffs shorter than crew length and/or get another skein of yarn.

I've been hoarding my Bugga since I bought it in 2009 (gulp) so it feels good to use it. i still have 3 more skeins in the stash and maybe i will even get around to knitting with them this year.

  1. Those look so pretty in that color. Learning to knit socks is on my list of would love to try but never enough time list! That color is so pretty!

  2. That yarn is gorgeous, very denim-y. :)

  3. Wow, these are beautiful!
