Welcome to the family

Taking the new girl for a spin #minispinner

Though I love my Majacraft Rose and it has served me well for 5 years, lately i've been wanting something different. because of the way i angle my body to draft longdraw, my back aches when spinning for any length of time. my knees also get cranky especially during long plying sessions. i try my best to ply with the smallest number of breaks possible because leaving the plying setup in the open with my cats around is just asking for trouble.

so I saved and bought myself a Hansencrafts minispinner. i got the cherry woolee winder version with 4 bobbins. honestly i haven't had much of a chance to try it out yet. i spun a little of the sample fiber that was sent with the wheel on Friday but the rest of my time has been occupied with holiday gifts. i'm off for 2 weeks after this week so i'm hoping to really get some milage on it over the holiday. here's hoping we'll have many productive years together.

  1. Well I've never seen such a thing! I have always wanted to learn to spin but coordinating the treadle and draft just seems way too hard. I want to go sl-o-o-o-w and regular wheels don't let you do that! This was really interesting to read about, thank you for putting in a link. :)
