WIP-it Wednesday #11

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

too early for witty commentary.

Finished this week

  1. More June do. good stitches: We've had some turnover in the group and 2 of our new members aren't starting until July. I didn't want Jennie to be short on blocks this month, so I made 4 extras.

In progress this week

  1. Haruni: *sigh* so i got through chart A and onto chart B. then somewhere i dropped a stitch or two and of course i didn't use a lifeline. so i have to decide what to do with this one, whether it's worth trying to fudge my mistake, carefully ripping back to chart A, or just starting over (b/c ripping back probably won't work out that well).
  2. HST value quilt / bearpaw quilt: i have two finished tops just waiting to be quilted. so i cut out the batting and made backings and plan to finish them in tandem. the only problem is that now it's 1100 degrees in the house and basting 2 quilts upstairs does not sound like a fun prospect. hopefully i can suck it up and get these done soon.

Yardage progress

FYI: I'm rounding to the nearest 1/8th of a yard to keep the math simplified. i only count yards used per week from finished projects. Scraps don't count, because...well, they're scraps.
Used this week: 6 yds
Pink Castle Fabrics Stash Stack Club
Pink Castle Fabrics
Found cloud 9 at Joanns. It does feel a little rough but not awful
Yards acquired: 13.5 yds. i got my last shipment of the Stash Stack Club, plus I restocked black prints from Pink Castle Fabrics, and I bought a little bit of cloud 9 organic cotton from joanns.
+/-: +5.035 yds

  1. What a good do.good stitcher are you, whipping out all those stunning extras?! Also, I'm a bit intrigued by your yardage tally - what prompted you to start tracking that?

  2. Wow, you're so productive!

  3. I love your idea of tracking yardage out and in but I think it would scare me too much to do it myself. My yardage bought tends to outweigh my yardage used.

  4. Trick for dropped stitches with lace- Put a piece of scrap yarn or a stitch marker that opens/closes through the dropped stitches to catch them.
Then carefully tink backwards, reading the pattern in reverse as you go- Ex.: *undo 3 knit stitches, undo one s2kp, undo one y0, undo one k2tog* etc,
That way you can make sure that you've got all the right stitches undone in the right way. Markers at the end of repeats also helps, then it's easy to notice if you're suddenly missing a stitch, and you wouldn't have to undo many rows.
It's possible to fix dropped stitches in lace, but it's a pain to do it, so I prefer to just catch the dropped ones and tink back to pick them up again.
