do. good stitches HAVEN: February

I am the host of HAVEN, a new do. Good Stitches circle. We're making quilts for Alternatives for Battered Women. As host, my month came up first. I am planning a twin-sized quilt with inspirational words. I've asked the circle members to make at least one word and a 12 inch traditional block if they don't want to complete two words. Kelbysews was kind enough to offer her wonky alphabet at a discount. I am planning to make a longer word but first I wanted to ease into it, so I used her paper pieced letters to stitch "be." I scaled down the letters to fit on one sheet of paper, and I added a 1/2 inch piece in between letters. my final block is around 5x8.

I've been itching to put my naturally dyed fabrics to work. i like how they have an aged look to them. i've already started my second word so hopefully i'll have that one to show soon as well.

  1. How cool! What a great organization, and what a nice thing to do!

  2. Oh, I love the block. Those colors are so soft and gorgeous. And congrats on leading a circle. You'll do well!
