Pendrell Muslin

i made this blouse when i was on my sewing kick. It's the Pendrell Blouse from Sewaholic.

i used my floral poly/cotton thrifted sheet as a muslin. I made the size 4 in View B. i shortened the blouse by 2 inches--a rarity for me, but the top is really long.

i would lower the neckline a little next time. crew necks generally aren't fabulous on me and i must have a big head, because i have a little trouble pulling it on. the pattern and directions were easy to follow.

i won't be making View B again. though cute in theory, the ruffles are just too much. it's not a good look for me with my already broad shoulders. i feel like a girly linebacker. it's even worse when i tuck the blouse in.

i cut out a second muslin for View A, the pleated sleeve version. i have a feeling this won't look good on me either. i did lower the neckline for the second version. i cut out the remaining rayon/linen that i used for my crescent skirt. i have yet to sew it together.

i probably knew better that this pear-shaped pattern wasn't a good look for me. but if both of these turn out to be duds, i can always stick to the sleeveless shell. i do want to emphasize that there's nothing wrong with the pattern itself. it just doesn't suit my body type.

  1. I'm so curious how this pattern will work for me also.  I have yet to make it up.  I plan to try the pleated sleeve version.  Anxious to see yours works out.
