Simplicity 2554
i don't mind the ruffle-ly shoulders. what i don't love is the sad sack hanginess of the rest of the blouse. it has princess seams but it isn't fitted at all, and i went down a size from my usual. i also continue to have that feeling that my shirt is too short though i think it's actually fine.

i would like this fabric more in the warmer months, i think. it doesn't feel as plastic-y as a lot of stuff at joann's, but the static cling is a problem.

if i were to make this again (which i probably won't) i would lengthen it an inch or two and add more shape by taking in the waist.

this is a very easy shirt to put together. it doesn't require any notions and although there are a lot of pieces it sews up pretty quickly.

i've been sewing like a madwoman but i never seem to have time to take non-crappy pictures. so i'm resigning myself to the crappy pictures otherwise i'll never get through it all.

Game: Blouses.

  1. Hmm, discouraging. I do think an even smaller size would be good for you, and what about some kind of shaping on the sides? I may have to wait a while before attempting this pattern. THanks for sharing!

  2. I think it's cute! I should be wary of the polyester static cling myself - I just bought some to make a dress and I sense it'll be sticking to me every time I wear it. If I ever get around to making it, that is. :P

  3. I like it! I recently bought a ruffled blouse though and it makes me look dumpy. You don't have that problem!

  4. I had the the same problems that you had. The shirt is kind of sack like without any real shaping in the seams. Although I found the flounces a little annoying, but that's just me. I do like that you serged the edges of the flounces.

Nice blog! I found it off pattern review.
