Potholder Week! String Edition

A few notes regarding Potholder Week! -- i used 1 layer of insulbrite and 1 of leftover warm and natural cotton batting and white cotton thread for piecing and quilting throughout. all potholders have been washed and need ironing but i'm not quite sure how to go about it since i don't know how the iron will interact with the insulbrite. so please excuse the unshapeliness. i used straight grain binding using the one-step method from modern quilt workshop for all 4 potholders.

the quilting is random straight and curvy lines. i was originally going to do some free motion, but decided against in in the interest of saving time.

string blocks are fun and use up a lot of scraps. i definitely would not rule out a large string quilt in my future.

  1. It's really cute! I'm actually making some potholders for gifts as well. I'd stalled out on it, but deadline crafting comes with a lot of pressure, so yesterday, I quilted five of the eight I need to finish. I was just thinking about the binding method, so I'll be looking into that today. Would you recommend the book you linked to as a good quilting resource?

  2. I love this. Great colors!

  3. Ooo! Very nice! And now I'm eagerly awaiting the others!
