i think it's a sewing week

i desperately need new work clothes. i actually went shopping to try to find some, but nothing fits well and i've gotten too snooty about fiber content. i have a dressy work thing coming up so i'm trying to make a few new clothes that i can wear this summer.
Linen pants
i love linen for summer. i got this fabric from sewmamasew. it's quite thick and heavy but very comfortable once washed. it reminds me of this long skirt that i used to own from the gap. please excuse the wrinkles--i just ironed the pants before i put them on in these pics, but that's linen for you.
Linen pants
the pants are the lounge pants pattern from amy butler's in stitches. i added back pockets from a built by wendy pattern. i was going to do a drawstring waist but i got lazy, so instead i used 1/2" elastic. the legs are very wide, but i don't think it's too bad if i wear the right shirt.

i wish i had bought enough to make a skirt too, but maybe next time.

  1. wow, you made pants that fit; what does that feel like?! I gave up on pants a long time ago but maybe I'll take a class where I can learn how to fit them. Good job!

  2. Very nice! I love wide-legged pants.

  3. Very nice!!

I'm with on my list is a work-worthy blouse. I'm with you on the fit. I can't find a damn thing that fits right.
