Dr. Seamlove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Mattress Stitch

Block #8
Block #8. i sucked it up and used mattress stitch instead of slip stitch crochet seams, and it does look better. well except for my inability to line up the stripes. i ripped it out many times and re-seamed, but this is the best i could do. it took me an entire week to knit one block. Distractions, everywhere.

i also picked up a skein of Opal Rainforest Tiger from the destash blog. yay, deals!
Opal Rainforest Tiger

  1. Oooh, I love the colors of that Opal yarn!

I don't mind mattress stitch, either. Kitchener stitch, on the other hand, I mind very much.

  2. Best post-title ever..

I love doing Kitchener stitch for some odd reason! I have yet to master mattress stitch.. hard to get practice when you knit in the round as much as possible.

  3. I have some Tiger too and Flamingo.

All I can think about when I see those blanket blocks is someone had better enjoy weaving in ends! Ha! Unless you've been weaving them in all along or have another ingenious plan. :-)

  4. Block #8........you are fast with the mitre squares. I have started this long ago and only have two finished blocks and a third that needs sewn together and a square in the making. It is taking me FOREVER with the elann.com cotton. It's like working with thread. But its gorgeous like yours and exciting to see the colors coming together soo pretty. I love it!
