batty, i completely agree with you. that is why i've decided to rip the koigu ripple weave socks and make simple stockinette socks for my relaxing project. i am curious to see how far the koigu will go. i plan to make toe-up socks with contrasting heels, toes, and cuffs, and just knit until i run out of yarn. it should be a fun and less brain-taxing experiment.

the yarns for my mom's and dad's sweaters arrived in the mail. i'd never seen rowan calmer before. somehow it was not what i expected. it's kind of thin and stringy in the skein. i probably won't be starting my mom's calmer project for awhile, as her birthday is last. i am eager to start my dad's cotton fleece sweater, but i need to get some measurements first.

man, blogging is boring with no pictures.

i am so so tired due to lack of sleep and also boredom. i compiled my first ever colorwork chart today. can't wait to try it out and see what happens.

is it wrong for me to like this shrug? it just looks really fun to knit. and i think it might even look good on me. i wasn't wowed by the other knits in the preview but i'll probably pick this issue up. maybe i should just subscribe. i just tossed a "subscription invitation" for $15. i'm sure i'll be receiving another one soon enough. if gw doesn't get to it first.

btw, i've been adding tags to old posts. sorry for all the updates.

  1. That Calmer is a little weird, but it does make a nice, stretchy, soft cotton fabric (though I've only used it for a hat, but I would think a sweater would be wonderful)
