i finished some stuff, but you can't see it yet

sock pal's socks are done, but remain top-secret til she receives them. i finished Sahara yesterday, but right now it is blocking. i washed it, and the dye bled so much that i'm surprised that there's any dye left. is it just something about silk that makes it so? i had a similar issue with some silk fabric. also, the sweater is almost dry and it feels rather crunchy. i hope that the crunchiness will go away with wear.

in the meantime, take a look at some more WIPs. i finally went back to Babette's blanket from 8 million years ago. i've been working on section 9 and am close to being finished. i figure if i work on a few squares a day, i should be able to finish sometime this month. for real this time, i promise.

i also started a new pair of socks for february: the yarrow rib socks from knitting vintage socks.

i'm using lana grossa meilenweit multiringel. i'm not really liking it too much thus far. after working with fearless fibers, this stuff feels dry and lifeless.

hopefully tomorrow i'll have pics of sahara.

  1. Can't wait to see Sahara. I hope it's done bleeding now! That blanket is so bright and cheerful, I'm interested to see the finished product.

  2. What a happy blanket! Blankets should be happy, they're nice and warm and comfy.

Can't wait to see how Sahara turned out. I've had bleeding issues with some hand-dyed yarns, mostly the fancy kind. And it wasn't just silk, either. I've been thinking of using vinegar to get the color to stay put, but I don't know if it's OK to use with all types of fiber or if there are exceptions.

  3. Babette is looking very beautiful. My babette remains a work in progress also. Thanks to the web and blogs and all I am into knitting socks now... You are a wonderful knitter and I enjoy your blog.
