i wanted a new shirt.

so i made one.
Burda World of Fashion 08/2006 #104
it's from Burda World of Fashion, 08/2006, #104. i made the 36" size, but because i'm not the brightest, i forgot to add the seam allowances. i sewed 1/4" seams on the entire top and the fit is pretty good. i think the 36" would've been too big for me. here's the back.

The fabric is a tissue knit from Emma One Sock. it's a little strange to work with, because it's 2-way stretch and semi-sheer, but thanks to the paisley print, it's ok to wear without a tank underneath. at least i hope it is. it only took one yard, and i think the fabric was about $12 including shipping.

this is the first time i've been happy with the sleeves. they're raglan style and i just went very slowly while sewing. i couldn't be happier with this top. i love the print and the pattern is pretty easy. i can definitely see myself making more...i'll just remember to add hem allowances next time.

  1. I love the fabric! The colour and the print is great. Looks great on you too!

  2. That is way too cute to be a $12 top. Great job.

  3. Yay!

    I love sewing with knits!

Why would anyone wanna do anything else?

All those folks that say sewing is not cheaper than storeboughten are JUST wrong.....I regularly save money on sewing clothes for me and the fam. And they fit better.

  4. It's realy beautiful, and it suits you to a T.

  5. So pretty! What cool fabric, and it's a very flattering top for you!

  6. Love that one! Really cute! Great on you too.
