Somewhat cowl still in progress
no, i'm STILL not finished with the somewhat cowl. i quit the cowl ribbing after 5 inches in order to retain my sanity. i'm up to the ribbing on the first sleeve. finishing this sweater will probably be a pain, but i can't wait for it to be done. hopefully it'll be elegant looking and i can wear it to my fancy schmancy work conference next week. *if* i finish it on time.

Backyard Leaves from scarf style
so i woke up one day and realized that i have a birthday to knit for rapidly approaching. i went to village yarn shop over the weekend and started this scarf using the called-for yarn, karabella aurora 8. surprsingly affordable but very very nice quality. i've only made it through 2 repeats, b/c i'm an idiot who is used to working in the round and i was knitting all of the wrong side rows from right to left instead of from left to right. i made it through two repeats and thought, "this doesn't look like leaves. it looks like...poo." then i figured out that i'm a dumbass, and ripped. started over, but i lost motivation. miiii.

Babette's blanket: Sections 1-3
while at VYS, i also picked up the current Interweave Crochet. most of the stuff in there is butt-ugly, but i am absolutely in love with Babette's blanket. very Kandinsky-esque. i wanted to make it out of the specified yarn, koigu kpm, but i looked up kit prices, and they were in the range of $250. i love the blanket, but i don't $250 love it. so i started it using a bunch of leftover washable stash yarn, from fingering up to heavy-worsted weight in cottons, acrylics, and superwash wools. i completed section 3. it is very easy and fun to watch it all come together, but i hope i have the stamina to make it through all 10 sections. i need a summer blanket to replace my heavy down comforter.

  1. I love the rainbow sock! Rainbow know when I was a kid we only had a B&W TV for a while, and I actually watched Rainbow Brite in Black and White. Oh, the irony.

Somewhat Cowl is looking good! And the Backyard Leaves scarf...I did the same thing when I started it too. heh.
