A few years back I ordered seven skeins of Berkshire Bulky in this lovely gold color. It's been so long that I have no idea what I ordered it for, but I do know that the yardage (756yds) is an odd amount that you can't really do much with. I tried to match it with several patterns and finally settled up on Paloma.
Paloma is a lovely textured oversized cardigan with pockets. I knew that I would run out of yarn if I used the pattern stitch, so I knit mine in plain stockinette and omitted the pockets (sad face--I really like pockets). I ended up with a tiny amount of yarn left after seaming, so I'd say it was a success. It's been so long now that I don't remember my other modifications but I think I shortened the body and sleeves a little bit. I finished the knitting in July and sewed on the buttons in November. I really hate sewing on buttons.
Someday I would like to remake this cardigan using the actual pattern. It's very warm and cozy and I'm sure it'll be worn lots this winter.
