Blogger's Quilt Festival: Modern Curves

For my second quilt, I'm entering Modern Curves in the Blogger's Quilt Festival.

Modern Curves

Thanks to my summer hiatus, I never did blog this quilt. Earlier this year, I submitted a design to Quilt Now and was very happily accepted to appear in the inaugural issue. The theme was Sorbet and I picked out pastel kona solids with a white background. I used Kona Ash for the backing and binding. Because it's such a small quilt, the curves don't take that long to piece and once the trimming is done, it's quite an easy quilt to put together.

I really liked the simplicity of the design with the solid fabrics, but I tried to give it some depth with the quilting. I used coordinating thread colors in each of the 3 foreground sections. I quilted the Ball Bearings design by Leah Day to mimic the curves and give the quilt some movement. I left the white background unquilted.

These photos are post-washing, and I adore the crinkle. I'm entering this in the Home Machine Quilted category.

  6. For some reason I feel like this would make a perfect baby quilt and I'm picturing a whole nursery around that colour scheme. It's so so beautiful. I'm happy I found your blog via the Blogger's Quilt Festival, you've got my vote!
