Roebling

Continuing my backlog of stuff that I'm extremely slow to take pictures of...today we have Roebling.

Roebling

What I remember: I knit fewer lace repeats because I knew that the hat would stretch due to the cashmere. The hat itself took less than one skein but the pompom used a ton of yarn. I had a pompom-related disaster when the string holding it together broke and the pompom completely fell apart. I did my best to salvage it because this is the world's most expensive pompom (seriously, it was probably about $40 worth of yarn). The hat did stretch out like crazy and it fits very loosely on my head. I can't wear the hat on super windy days. I really liked this pattern and I would probably knit it again. I think the stockinette version would be great with handspun.

I've been hoarding this yarn since I went to Maryland Sheep and Wool in 2010. I have 2 more skeins in purple that I'm still pondering. maybe next year. one good guess--i probably won't use it for pompoms.

  1. No kidding, that's one expensive pom! Well, it turned out great - I dig the color, too! And those knit flower brooches you got on - very darling :)
