Snowcone Mittens

Snowcone Mittens

I am thrilled to release my first knitting pattern in over a year, the Snowcone Mittens.

Snowcone Mittens

Awhile back I bought several skeins of Cascade 220 sport with the intention of playing with stranded colorwork. I put a grouping of 5 colors together and the pink/red/teal combo made me think of Sno-cones--the little round balls of ice that you get in the summertime. I charted out an interlocking clamshell shape reminiscent of those Sno-cones and got to work.

These mittens have my favorite gusset thumb that sticks out to the side of the hand. I find that they fit much better and have the added bonus of being interchangeable (No trying to put the right mitten on my left hand pre-coffee in the mornings).

This pattern is fun and quick to knit. Only 2 colors are worked at a time, so I think it would be an approachable pattern for those new to colorwork. There's still time to knit a pair before the snow is gone.

Snowcone Mittens can be purchased through Ravelry, Craftsy, and Etsy.
