Baby's First Hipster Quilt II

Right before the craft show, i got sort of fed up with show prep and just wanted to make something for fun. It was a joy to make my first hipster quilt, so I decided to do another one.

Baby's First Hipster Quilt

This time around I used kona ash for the background and made narrow frames from kona snow. The fussy cut centers include some echino, melody miller, collage, geekly chic, heather ross, and others. Each block is improv pieced with lots of negative space. The quilt is 37x44 with quilter's dream cotton request batting, aurifil thread for piecing and quilting, and a machine stitched bias binding.

for the back I used my favorite yarn-dyed essex linen in black with one dapper fox block. i have a half yard of this print and i'm seriously considering making an entire quilt with fussy cut foxes. so cute.

I FMQ a stipple in the background areas with light grey aurifil 50-wt. I handquilted the white frames and the fussy cut centers with white #8 perle cotton. it took me a little longer than anticipated to do the handquilting but the finished blocks are so soft. I used the Architextures text print and some solid yellow for the binding.

This quilt is in the shop.
