happy scrappy

Scrap Vomit Quilt

Spicy and I braved the post-Nemo landscape to take Daisy for a walk. I brought a couple of quilts along for the ride. This is my scrap vomit quilt. i started it ages ago, last summerish, maybe? i used my big shot to cut bunches of 2.5" squares from scraps. i made a couple of blocks and got bored. I put it away for a long while and only recently got it out to finish it.

I used kona navy and a riley blake chevron for the backing and a moda half moon modern dot for the bias binding. i attached the binding with clear thread and a blind applique stitch. it is securely attached and reasonably invisible. i'll probably use this method again.

I used mid loft quilter's dream batting. the quilting took the longest. i tried out the leaf quilting pattern from FITF in white Aurifil 50-wt thread. it took me awhile to get the hang of it but i did enjoy the process. my new quilting gloves helped tremendously. i like how the quilt is very dense and has a great texture but it doesn't look too intrusive thanks to the scrappy pattern.

this quilt is in the shop.

Oh, that is a pretty quilt. I love black/yellow against all the other colors.

Love how it turned out! The yellow makes it so happy along with the scrappiness. Nice job!

I really love this one. The yellow was such an inspired choice! And you are so right; the landscape couldn't be more different than what I am experiencing!

I seriously love your quilting choice!
