I tried some wholecloth quilting. I used a yard of heather ross cheater patchwork and paired it with essex linen. I grabbed 3 colors of #8 perle cotton and quilted a chevron pattern. The batting is quilter's dream mid-loft. The blanket is super soft and fluffy. it's 33x40--perfect for the nursery.
I'm finding the handquilting process to be very relaxing but i really need to get a thimble. I did not use any markings for the zigzags but relied on the cheater print as a guide. It's a fairly subtle effect, but I alternated yellow, gray, and ecru threads.
For the binding, I used some of my favorite Flea Market Fancy print and cut it on the bias. I handstitched it to the back. I think i'm going to stick with bias binding in the future. it does take more fabric than straight-grain binding, but not that much more. and it is supposed to be more durable in the long run.
The quilt is listed in my shop.

It is lovely, Sara! I like the subtle colors you chose to quilt with. I still have not attempted hand quilting, but I can see why you'd find it to be soothing.
I love it so much. So simple and beautiful! I bet Daisy loves to sit next to you while you quilted it.
I love this! It looks like it's very soft and drapey. Lately I've been feeling the urge to try hand quilting as well. I never thought it would appeal to me, but now I totally get it. It's funny how that works.
