The Traveler

Wonky Bee Round 3

The third round of the Wonky Bee is a little different. We decided to do a traveling round that will last for a year. Every 2 months you get a new quilt to work on and you add pieces as you go. Hopefully by the end you'll have a finished top or something close to it.

I chose to do a solids quilt with an emphasis on color and geometric shapes. I made a Pinterest board with inspiring quilts and other images to give people ideas. I sent out white cotton couture and a variety of bright solid fabrics from different manufacturers to give the quilt depth.

I started my quilt with a bunch of different blocks. I did a little paper piecing.

and some color gradients. i wasn't sure that this one fit with the rest but i sent it on anyway in case it inspired someone else. i am very much looking forward to seeing what my fellow bee members add. it's hard to say goodbye to this project for a year but it should be fun to see what gets added as it travels across the country.
