I wasn't quite finished with my squares obsession so i made a charm quilt. i took the Lucy's Crab Shack charm pack that i got from my brother and pulled coordinating solids from the Michael Miller Cotton Couture charm pack that i bought awhile back. i filled in the rest with scraps. i made a small baby quilt. all of the fabrics on the top are unique.

for the back i used the leftovers from the charm pack and filled in with a few more scraps. the primary fabric is a DS quilts Daisy Mae fabric.

i had a hard time coming up with a quilting pattern. i wanted to keep the quilting to a minimum and i tried a few different designs without success. finally i took a cue from one of the fabrics and made wonky bow ties in vertical lines. i used connecting threads in an acid green shade. my quilting isn't perfect but i do like how it turned out. the design was fairly easy to quilt.

i rounded the edges with a dessert plate and attached the DS Aunt Edna bias binding with a decorative stitch on my machine. i think that overall i still prefer hand-stitched binding but i don't always feel like firing up the needle and thread.

i really like this little quilt. the cotton couture in particular is so soft and will be perfect for a baby. i'm planning to keep this stockpiled for one of the bazillion bundles of joy that are currently on the way.
