Introducing Daisy

I've had a lot less time for crafting of late. We've been busy adding to our family.
Daisy
Daisy is a 10 month old alleged boxer/st. bernard mix (we're thinking her lineage is a bit off). Spicy and I were at the pet food store about a month and a half ago to pick up cat litter. Daisy was at the store with a local rescue organization. She was abused as a puppy and has a lot of fear issues, and she's especially frightened of men.

We left the store that day empty handed (well, with 2 40lb boxes of cat litter but you know what i mean), but we couldn't stop thinking about Daisy. We took our time, did a lot of research, and we agreed that we could give Daisy a good home. The process of adopting her has been pretty intense but considering that she is a "special needs" dog I don't blame the organization for thoroughly vetting us.
Daisy
We're still in our trial period but things are going pretty well and we hope to give her a permanent home soon. Daisy is getting used to her surroundings now. She loves the cats. They don't quite love her back yet but they're getting along ok at this point. Daisy is slowly learning that Spicy is the guy you go to for treats. Sorry for the image quality--she is scared of my camera but she's ok with the ipad.

  1. What a sweetie! I hope all goes well.

BTW, the shelter called my dog an Akita mix, when it's clear by looking at her that she's mostly Boxer (as later confirmed by a DNA test). Breed designation is usually just the guesswork of whatever volunteer was on duty when the dog came in. Besides, it's the dog that matters, not the breed.

  2. Hee! She's cute! I give you big props! Someday we want to get a dog (not til we buy a house) and my biggest worry is how the cats will react!

  7. Oh, she is precious! Very cute. I hope everything works out for you. We have had our humane society dog, Freckles, for 5 months now, and she has settled in well. We did end up hiring a trainer to help us with her fear issues, and the results were amazing. All the best to you.
