btw, i am fully aware of the hypocrisy of complaining about summer birthdays when mine was just a few days ago. i don't exempt myself from contributing to the annoyance.
today's installment is a crochet clutch for my stepmom. She is an avid crocheter and is always working on something for one of her grandchildren. i used DS quilts fabric for the exterior and amy butler dots for the pocket with a scrap of FMF for the needle pocket.
I used this tutorial. i interfaced with fusible fleece which is my new favoritest thing. instead of a button i installed a magnetic snap. i did not topstitch around the clutch. i handstitched the opening instead.
i put my own hooks and needles in the case to see how it worked. i inserted my thread cutting scissors into the large pocket but when i picked up the case, they fell out and nearly took out my big toe. so yeah...if you make one of these for yourself either make sure the scissors compartment is extra snug or maybe just don't use it for scissors. if i were to make this again i'd add a zippered compartment to hold things like scissors and stitch markers. and i might make this one again eventually. i need a case for my own hooks. i just haven't found the time.
