June Wonky Bee

June Wonky Bee
Nicke's request for the wonky bee was improv chevrons. to be perfectly honest, i didn't find these blocks much fun. they seemed to take forever and i wasn't able to make them without wasting a ton of fabric. it's weird and i haven't got a firm handle on it, but i think i prefer a certain amount of efficiency in piecing--in both time and materials usage. i think it's safe to say that i will not be making a chevron quilt of my own. i am intrigued to see the finished quilt--it should be busy and fun to look at. i enjoyed pulling a fabric stack together in her theme colors.

  1. It's too bad you didn't enjoy them, but the blocks turned out awesome! I do think it takes a little time to get the hang of making skinny wedges, and you saw what I did with my excess piecing in the improv quilt. I plan to use the leftover piecing for these as well, someday. :)

  3. I'm feeling the same way as I work on mine. I'm glad to try something new, but the technique is very time consuming and wasteful. It should look cool in the end though.
