but every once in a blue moon, I get fired up and I just really want to win. this happens extremely rarely and comes from some generally unexplored place inside my psyche. i think the last time it happened, i ran for Vice-President of my student council just because i really did not like the girl who was running and didn't think she should be unopposed on principle (i lost). right now i am pretty far behind in the feeddog contest. so it's time to up the stakes.
If you visit the blog and vote for me (Sara P) in the sidebar, come back here and leave a comment that you voted. Your entry gives you a chance to receive either this lovely selvedge pincushion that I made last night, or a free pattern from my self-published designs. Let me know in the comments whether you would like the pincushion or the pattern and make sure your email address is enabled so that I can contact you if you win. I will close comments Sunday night and choose 2 winners by random draw.this being my 3rd pincushion, i improved a few things: it's not filled quite as much, making it easier to insert the pins. i quilted the top to a layer of cotton flannel so it's stable but not too thick. the pincushion is 4.5" square and filled with crushed walnut shells, which will help keep your pins sharp.

In the event that I actually win the contest, I will draw one additional winner who can choose between 3 OOP Fat Quarters from Denyse Schmidt's line, Katie Jump Rope, or a skein of Sanguine Gryphon Bugga! in Karner Blue.

If you've already voted for me, thank you so much! You are also eligible to win, just leave a comment below. Thanks for helping me out and good luck to everyone who comments.
*You may well ask why I won that spelling bee in the first place. My best explanation is that it was sort of an accident. I was a strong speller, and I wasn't aware that the consequences of my actions would be taking part in additional spelling bees. had I known, I probably would've lost that one too.

I voted! Twice even! Gotta love having 2 computers handy. (Pin cushion)
I voted for you! I really hope you win, Sara. Your design is really different from anything I've seen, and I would be thrilled for you to win! Good luck, and thanks for sharing a fun incentive for votes. :)
Oh, sidenote: I was in a spelling bee in elementary school. I was sick and even though I'm a very good speller, I got knocked out in the first round because I couldn't hear the word correctly. He said caddy and I heard candy. *doh*
I voted for your block. Hope you win.
I voted for your block too.
Voted in the first and second rounds. I'll even hop over to the other computer to do it again later.

I would love to win one of your patterns! Also, I just voted for your block design. Good luck!
I found my way here from the Ravelry Quilters Knitting board, and voted in both rounds. Your design is really unique! Good luck in winning the Accuquilt. (pin cushion)

Roxyrana on Rav.
I voted! I like your block. It's really orginal. I think I've seen the other two before.
I voted! I like the modernity of your block. If I win I would like the pincushion.
I voted too - such a great design! I like the selvedge pincushion too:)
I was in a spelling bee, too. It didn't make any difference to me whether I won or lost, I was just so bored. Anyways, I've voted for you, good luck!
I would always have voted for that one even without such a generous giveaway! The others seems very little old-ladyish. Fingers crossed for you!
Oh, and pincushion please :o)
I voted for you again. I love the "clean-ness" of your pattern and although it looks modern, I could also see it as material for a retro skirt. (But since I lost more than one battle with a zipper, I don't sew clothes anymore.) Good luck!
I voted for you! Great design - I love it!
I voted, fingers crossed! Good luck
I voted. Love your design :)
I voted and wish you luck as I liked the design! But I also like your patterns and would opt for one of those!
