Sewing Storage

An eclectic bunch of things i've sewn lately:
Diaper Clutch
Diaper Clutch: i'm going to make a diaper bag for my sister-in-law but the fabrics aren't here yet. i warmed up with this little clutch, which i thought might come in handy. it was super easy and it only took about an hour to make.
Jane Market Bag
Jane Market Bag: I succumbed to the craze and i'm so glad i did. i love this bag. it was super easy to sew and it showcases pretty fabrics. i am definitely planning to make more of these for xmas gifts. the only change i made was to leave the opening in the top seam and then topstitch the opening closed instead of leaving it in the bottom of the lining. i especially adore the pintucks which give the bag a really nice shape. i used craft-fuse interfacing on the shell. next time i'd lightly interface the lining as well. i like my shopping bags to have body.
Origami Bag from Style Stitches
Origami Bag from Style Stitches: i made the small size. it's a cute bag and it was fairly easy, but i did find it time consuming for such a small thing. i love these fabrics together and the combo will probably find its way into a quilt someday.
Bowl from Sew Happy Patchwork
Nesting Bowl from Stash Happy Patchwork: i made a coordinating bowl. these last two were for a coworker's birthday. instead of zigzag, i used satin stitch to join the panels. i also used craftfuse interfacing. i made the large size but it's still pretty small. i think if i made this again i'd enlarge it quite a bit more. i used some leftover prepared bias tape and it was thinner in width than called for so i just turned the tape to the inside and topstitched.

i made a couple of pillowcases for our bed over the weekend as well but i was too tired to take pictures. my very first sewing project as an adult was making pillow shams from an old duvet cover. they finally died (faded with holes) so i threw them out. now i have pretty blue and brown replacements.

  1. I especially love your Market Bag, and the Origami bowl. That's such a cool project! I agree with you on the dark blue/brown color combination. It really works.
