String Madness

I love string quilts. The Mod Mosaic Scrap Bee decided to do a second part to the swap where we make string blocks to trade along with the original blocks. I was plenty tired of doing the mod mosaic blocks, but I can make string blocks much more quickly. I've been wanting to do a string quilt for my brother's baby to be, so I signed up and got to work.

i'm doing 36 blocks total, and i have 16 more to go.

i'm so proud--i've managed to use only small scraps from the bins so far.

over the weekend i bought some clear plastic shoeboxes for 99 cents each to use as my scrap bins. it's a much better solution than the ziplocs.

these are the 8 that i'm trading. i'm not sure how many i'll ultimately swap. i'll decide after i've finished them all.

right now i'm planning to use the 5 mosaic blocks on the backing. the final blocks won't be mailed out until april. hopefully i'll have enough patience to wait until then!

  1. Much faster! Wow, that's a lot of blocks. I think these will make a wonderful finished quilt for the new baby.
