Parallel Kitties

just because:
Parallel Ellie and Wyatt
i wonder if they have adjacent dreams.
Simplicity 2599
Pattern: Simplicity 2599, View D with sleeves
Size: 8, B cup
Fabric: poly silky print from joann
Started and Finished: no idea

i made a muslin of this blouse in the summer. i cut out a size 12, which was a total disaster. it was gigantic. i cut this one in a size 8 and it's the perfect fit. for once i did not feel like the top was too short. i did the facings and the button closure in the back but next time i would probably use bias tape instead and skip the button. it's not necessary to get the top on and off. i can't remember how they tell you to do the ruffles but mine is a double layer with the long edges serged together and then gathered. Edit: oh yeah, i completely forgot the pattern has separate cup sizes. that's always nice too.

i love the polka dots. the fabric feels and probably looks pretty cheap up close but from far away it's not bad. this one is actually less painful static-wise than some of the others. one issue i had was i did the markings with red tracing paper and they never washed out. oops.

this blouse is very simple and has many variations. i would definitely make it again. i'm considering doing a sleeve from another pattern next time. the sleeve provided is ok, but it lacks panache.

  4. Holla! Talk about a great top :) It looks like it fits you perfectly -- and great fabric! This pattern has caught my eye and I'm thinking about version F.

You totally made me laugh with your previous 1992/Gap post. I'm so impressed with how much perseverance you've shown with all these alterations on these patterns. I feel like I've had no patience these days (hence the simple refashions). But I do have another one of the Simplicity Amazing Fit -- the dress -- so great to see the pants in this series.
