i'll keep the giveaway open through today. you have one more chance to enter.
i've made several blocks for my brother's quilt. i had originally planned to do a zigzag with half square triangles but i was reading a book that i'd gotten from the library and i was taken with the quilt on the cover.
i don't have enough charm packs to do the entire quilt with this block, but i'm planning to alternate with a solid khaki block. it's a 12.5" square and i've made 6 so far. the dimensions in the book are slightly different but it wasn't difficult to resize.
my fabric shack order came with a fat quarter of this cool hand-dyed fabric in oranges and greens. it meshed really well with the colors of my quilt so i cut it into squares and threw it into the mix. there are a couple of prints added from my stash also.
when i first made these blocks i was probably planning to say something about HSTs actually being kind of fun. i'm not so sure that i feel that way after this block. i'll rephrase: HSTs are actually kind of fun when they are at a relatively large scale and there are only a few of them. that sounds more accurate.
early april is when i'd like to be finished with this one. i have some time, which is good, because i have a full plate right now and probably won't get back to it for awhile.
