the makings of a muslin

Simplicity 2700 muslin
i decided to go with Simplicity 2700 instead of Vogue 1051 for my pants, mostly because i am lazy and there are extra wide seam allowances built into the pattern. of course, this morning i check patternreview and everyone seems to hate this pattern.

i traced the size 10 curvy but i'm not sure if that was a mistake. i measured the crotch length and depth as the chart told me to, and unless i'm just completely doing the wrong thing, i have the longest crotch in the history of ever. my measurements matched up on their comparison chart with size 20 curvy. now i understand why i've had a lifelong hesitance to wearing pants and skirts at my natural waistline--it's because my waist is almost literally at my armpits. ok, slight exaggeration but still. maybe i should have measured where i'm actually going to wear the pants instead of at my natural waistline?

i dunno. hopefully i'll figure it out over the weekend, as well as squeezing in some time to work on the baby quilt.

  1. Sara, you are so funny. I'm sure you do not have the longest crotch ever. I've never attempted pants, but I give you props; I know you've been on the search for the best fit for yourself. You'll get there!

Good luck w/ the muslin and making pants!

  4. Ha ha! Yes, I couldn't concentrate after the crotch sentence either. Oh the pervy hits you're going to get on this post!

I'm curious to see how this works out. I've got fabric to make myself some pants, but I'm chicken!
