Never again.

i found this tutorial for a Cathedral Windows pillow and thought it would be fun to try out. i was wrong. i found the process to be tedious as hell. that much ironing and precision is just not for me, i'm afraid.
Cathedral windows pillow
i used several quilting fabrics from stash and kona cotton for the main fabric. the back is a heavy linen and it's stuffed with poly fiberfill. i put a square of leftover cotton/wool batting underneath each window. the pillow is about 22" square.

i originally intended this as a practice pillow in the hopes that i would make another for a gift, but there's no way that's happening. due to general sloppiness and ass-hattery, this pillow was deemed fit for a cat bed, but not much else.

uh, it's ok for me to be on here, right? yeah, buddy...it's ok.
Ellie
the other two kitties have their favorite spots but Ellie was missing her own soft bed. i bribed her with a little catnip. She loves it now and has already napped on it.

  1. My mom has a cathedral windows wall hanging in her bedroom. At each of the points she sewed one of the buttons off of her army uniform. Now I'm wondering if perhaps she was hiding something at those points? ;-)

  2. Dude, for a practice pillow, it's amazing! I'vebeen wanting to try this one as well, but I may wait awhile, if it's that tedious. I guess it makes sense, though, as you don't see many on flickr.

  4. My mom made an entire king size quilt out of the cathedral windows using black satin as the back ground and other color satins as the windows. It is absolutely stunning. Your's looks great. :)
