Just A Potholder

No TdF spinning today. I didn't spin at all yesterday.
Potholder gift
my friend visited over the weekend and she received her belated birthday gift. i got her a copy of the artisan bread book and i whipped up a quilted potholder.
Potholder gift
i used half-square triangles. the potholder shape was inspired by this oh fransson tutorial and the grommet use was inspired by the potholder in amy butler's in stitches.

i did straight line quilting for the front and back. i wish i had used white thread for the front but i'm out of white 100% cotton thread at the moment so i had to improvise. the backing was a heavy cotton twill. i used one layer of insulbrite and one layer of cotton/wool batting.

quilting remains my worst skill so it's not the prettiest thing in the world but hopefully it's functional.

  1. I like it! DId you need a special tool to insert the grommet? Or just a hammer?

  2. Great job! I've never done half-square triangles in sewing. Those look tiny! I'm about to run out of white cotton thread as well. I'm definitely going to have to make a craft run this weekend.
