Fraternal Twins

some things have been sitting in the stash for so long that i've practically forgotten about them.
CMF Superwash Merino handspun
Crown Mountain Farms Superwash Merino in San Francisco
3ply, spun longdraw, soaked and thwacked to finish
239yds/60g, fingering weight
CMF Superwash Merino handspun
i had about 2oz left from an 8oz bump that i mostly spun up ages ago. i had always intended to spin a traditional 3ply to go with this chain-plied yarn in the same fiber. i will knit a pair of socks with both yarns and compare how they wear. having the two skeins is nice because i've recently rediscovered knitting both socks at the same time.

i'm hoping to do a lot of spinning this month. i've already finished one of the hello yarn fibers and i'm working on the finn i got for the CMF club. it is Handspun February, after all.

  1. Lovely yarns! Handspun February is a great way to focus on the spinning, I intend to knock off a few bumps as well!

  2. Man that first skein looks so familiar. I swear I've spun or knit something very similar. And it's going to drive me nuts til I remember!

  3. I really like seeing them side by side! What a good idea for a controlled sock durability experiment - I'll be waiting for the results!
