project granny

on friday, i got inspired by all of the ginormous granny blankets that are out there, like these 2 from throughtheloops, or chawne's, or helloyarn's, or juliefrick's. i love how the same basic idea can look so different for each individual. i also like how there's no sewing involved, just round after round of easy rhythmic goodness. armed with an overflowing leftovers bin and an F hook, i decided to start my own.

i'm using fingering and sportweight solid or semi-solid animal fiber scraps. this project is truly addicting. i couldn't put it down all weekend. i've added another couple of rows since this picture. i've got enough yarn for maybe 8-ish more rows.

when i'm finished it'll be a nice couch-sized blanket. i really love it and i can see myself making another someday. i have a bunch of worsted weight scraps that could use downsizing too.

  2. Nice work and fast!
Is it wrong to want to knit like a mad woman just to have enough scrappies to make one of these? That's what I've been doing.

  3. Ah! It's wonderful, so colorful! I guess we did the same thing over the weekend, but I seem to be really slow. I'm making mine reversible, turning every round and working the ends in, just learned that over the weekend too. So great. When I'm done I'll only have to weave in ONE end! But it will take a while.

  6. I've got a Granny Circle (I can't figure out how to do a square!) that I used to do when I was between knitting projects. I should dig out my scraps and start up on it again!
