late afternoon zzzz....

i desperately need a nap. i didn't get much sleep last night b/c it's really cold and the cats clung to me in bed. i kept waking up every hour or so feeling like i was being crushed to death, and i was, as i had two 20lb cats on my chest. i have less than an hour to go here and then i can sleep.

anyway today i'm posting some photos of a sweater that won't have a pattern written up--not any time soon anyway. i wrote up the instructions Pre-Great Hard Drive Crash of '09 and i just don't have the willpower to do it again.

i used some of the vacation yarn i bought in maine. i like eco wool but the cowl is fairly scratchy on my super-sensitive neck. this sweater is super-warm and perfect for this time of year. maybe not so much when i actually took the pictures though. i recall trying really hard not to look too uncomfortable. my inspiration for this design was probably watching too many episodes of Gossip Girl in a row.

it's knit bottom-up in one piece and separated for front and back. the sleeve caps are picked up and knit with short-rows, a la Barbara Walker.

  1. I really like this, the cowl neck and the sleeves are super cute! Sorry the cowl's a little too scratchy for you though!

I'm feeling the urge to knit a cowl neck sweater right now even though I usually hate how they look on me.

  3. Very nice! And yes, perfect for this weather!

Thank god I'm not the only one w/cats like that. I hate the way they stare when they sit on your chest while you're sleeping. I wake up and freak out!

  5. Beautifully designed pullover! I love the cowly neck and the Xs and Os - you have such a wonderful natural creative side to you - it comes through on everything you make - from yarn to pattern designing.

  9. Love it. I think it would make me look like a puffin but you can pull the look off because you are so small :)
