Pretty Yarn Day: Frosted Edition

these drumcarded batts became this yarn:
2ply light worsted handspun
199yds/74g, 2ply, light worsted weight
spun short-forward draw, soaked and thwacked to finish
2ply light worsted handspun
i love how the silk looks like frost on the yarn. i was thinking about knitting a hat for my brother, but i'm not sure if it's too shiny. i'm open to opinions on the subject.

MarcieF, thanks for the advice on the bella mittens. i finished the first one last night and discovered what you were talking about. i had to rip back the decreases and add another cable repeat, as the recipient has long fingers and skinny arms. if i were to do these again, i'd go up a needle size b/c the whole mitten seems tight and dense, and i believe it's only partly the fault of my craptastic handspun.

  1. The shine will look different knit up. I was thinking it would make a great hat at first sight.

  2. Very pretty! Love the frosted look too.

  3. Wow, that stuff is gorgeous! Love how it came out!
