Playing Catch-up

i have so much to catch up on, it's going to take me about a week.
Mashups
Pattern: Arrows lace pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks and Wendy Johnson's Toe-up Socks with a Difference
Size: Women's 8
Needles: 1.5 knitpicks harmonies
Yarn: Valley Yarns Franklin, kettle dyed in Grape Ape
Started October 21, Finished October 30
My 18th finished pair of 2009 and my 4th for Socktoberfest.

I finished the xmas socks for my sister-in-law. i really like lace socks but i rarely make them. i used judy's magic cast-on and knit a wedge toe, an EOP heel, and used the stretchy bind-off from knitty fall 09. with 1x1 ribbing, it makes an interesting looking edge.
3ply handspun bfl
oh, handspun of woe. this was my labor day BFL, dyed with acid dyes. it's a 3ply, worsted spun, about a sportweight. there was 725yds/360g when i skeined and washed it. when i tried to reskein, it got so tangled on the swift that i had to cut it off. it stinks to waste yarn at any time, but when it's your handspun, it's especially painful. by the time i got it untangled, i didn't have the heart to reskein and measure, so i just wound it into cakes and threw it in the yarn closet. i don't know how much yardage i have anymore. i don't want to look at it for awhile, so i probably won't be using it soon. at any rate, it's not a very good match for the blue/green BFL (the pink stuff is a lot thinner) so i can't really use them together.

  1. Pretty pretty socks! It's been a while since I've opened SKS, I sometimes forget I have it! Maybe it's time to crack that baby open again.
