i feel like i'm in a country song

so my hard drive crashed yesterday morning. that was not fun. i've lost all of my personal files, including my patterns--published and in progress. i lost all of my pattern downloads and photos. and i just realized this morning that i can no longer lord it over the masses that i have a copy of the controversial pea pod baby sweater set.

i have no one to blame but myself. i was just thinking the other day that i should really back up my personal files. acknowledging that i'm an idiot doesn't make it suck any less.

at least i finished a pair of socks for Socktoberfest.
Wanida
Pattern: Wanida from Sock Innovation
Needles: #1 addi turbos
Yarn: Wollmeise 100% Superwash Merino in Limone, 80g
Size: Ladies' 6
Started: October 1, Finished: October 5
my 15th finished pair of 2009
Wanida
i ran out of yarn on the last two toe rounds. i subbed in some leftover knitpicks essential tweed from my marlene socks. i'm keeping this pair so i'm willing to live with the mismatch.

the tight twist and many plies of wollmeise make it the perfect sock yarn. it seems like it would be equally great in cables, lace, texture patterns--whatever you want to throw at it. i would love to get my hands on some more one of these days.
handspun socks
to finish off the day from hell, on my walk home yesterday not one but two bugs flew into my eye. that was also pretty unpleasant. after i got home and made dinner, i just wanted to kick back, watch some tv and knit on a mindless project. i started a pair of plain toe-up socks for spicy. i'm using my 2ply southern cross fibres polwarth and #1 metal dpns. they will be a gift for his birthday.

  1. If anyone looks that close at your toes, they're nuts! I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. I would have thought "stray lint" for the tweedy part.

    Suckage about the 'puter!!!!

  2. Oh, I'm so sorry you've lost all your stuff. It sucks! I just found out yesterday that our external hard drive, with all our pictures in it, has crashed, so I kinda know the feeling.

At least you have gorgeous socks to keep you happy.

  3. I'm going to call that race against the end of the yarn a "win". You made it. I could get away with making the toe one or two rows shorter as I have two different sized feet.
How is the stretchiness of that pattern? It's just beautiful, but I wondered if the cross bands limited the stretching ability?

  4. I am sorry about the crash. That would suck.

What's the controversary about the pea pod baby set?

Your yellow socks are pretty, and I thought exactly what Bezzie wrote about the stray lint. :)

  5. Nevermind on the Pea Pod baby set. I figured it was a Ravelry drama, did a search, and am correct.

  6. Did your boyfriend sleep with your best friend's hairdresser's cousin? Because then you'd *really* be in a country song. ;)

Sorry about the hard drive crash. The same thing happened to me last month. And on the exact same day I had "back up files" on my to do list. It's like they know.

    Lovely job on the Wanida!

P.S. I have a copy of the Pea Pod set pattern. But I'm so out of the loop - why is it controversial?
