FLFF: Spicy's Gifts

today's fiber stash acquisitions are courtesy of Spicy.
Stone Edge Fibers
this is 4oz of wool/alpaca from Stone Edge Fibers. we've bought from them every year. i'm not sure of the sheep breed or precise fiber blend percentage, but the roving feels pretty soft to the touch. i think i will dye it to spin sock yarn.
Hemlock Hills Alpaca
this is 6oz of alpaca from Hemlock Hills Alpaca Farm. We had a long chat with the farmers, and they seemed very nice. i got to pimp Ravelry for the first time--she had never heard of it, and i encouraged her to join. i was wearing my noro limerick shawl and a few people at the festival commented on it. Spicy told me he would have to take charge of my marketing efforts, because my impulse when people give me compliments is to run away in terror. The alpaca lady asked me for a business card and all i could say was, "you know i was just thinking the other day that maybe i should have some made, but then who would i give them to?" i thought i was doing well to stand there politely and smile, but evidently i was wasting my opportunities.

this was the last booth we visited before leaving. i'm not sure what to do with this amount of 100% alpaca, but i'm sure i'll think of something. they had a couple of lovely fleeces for sale. i wanted one, but i still have plenty of raw fleece at my house. it'll have to wait until i get a drum carder.

  2. Oh man, I love that cloud of alpaca goodness! Since I'm not to fond of Ravelry does that mean I can live on an alpaca farm to avoid it? NICE!
