Retro Cardigan FAIL and a teaser

Retro Cardigan
for starters, this pattern had a lot of errors, at least on the 29" size. I had to do a lot of fudging starting with the divide for sleeves. my row gauge was very different from the specified gauge, so i cut out a lot of rows and ended up using less yarn. i only had one button, so i omitted the rest. the yoke is still way too deep and it would require major recalculating to get it to fit right. it hangs oddly and it's rather cape-like.

cotlin is ok to crochet with. it does soften in the wash, but it doesn't blow me away. i don't know that i'd rush to use it again, but maybe for home items.

it's actually been awhile since i've had an UGH! project, but it happens to everyone sometimes.
Rick from Sock Innovation
i finished my first Rick. I do not advise pulling from the center of a ball of kureyon sock. the yarn is very twisty, likes to stick to itself, and gets tangled frequently. it broke when i tried to close the toe, and i couldn't rip it out to fix it, so i'm crossing my fingers that the toe won't unravel in the wash.

other than that, i love the colors and the pattern so far. spicy thinks it's the ugliest sock he's ever seen. i heart it.

a little teaser for this week. i might be sewing something new.

  2. That's a shame about the cardigan! I love the socks, though! Rick's one of the patterns I'm very eager to get around to.

  3. Sorry about the cardigan fail. :( Unfortunately, it happens (I'm still in need of therapy over the Raspy fiasco.) Can you gift it to someone?

  4. I had the same bad experience as you with that pattern. Isn't the yoke ridiculous? I have no idea how it looks nice in the magazine, because it is so huge in real life.
