Mod Sampler Quilt: Blocks of Cuteness

so i know that you're supposed to do all this in the beginning, but cutting out all the components is my very least favorite part of quilting. to preserve my sanity, i am cutting out 4 fabrics at a time, enough for 12 blocks. this way i can make sure that i alternate the placement of the dominant fabrics evenly.

Blocks C and D

Blocks E and F

i used the freezer paper trick a lot b/c evidently my 1/4" seaming skills suck. on the teal bracelet fabric, i had to piece components together b/c i ran out of fabric. some of the fat quarters were cut very unevenly.

other than that, things are going well. i'm trying to take my time, but not take too much time. i'd like to finish this one before 2009 is over.

  1. Love these blocks! But dude, that is a lot of cutting. I think I'd have tapped out at Block C!

  2. The teal bracelet fabric looks cool in block E(?). So much movement!

  3. Are you doing these with a rotary cutter? My mom's trying to convince/enable me to get one, but I figure the pioneers just had scissors right?
