busy weekend

it took me forever to spin this black merino. i got really bored after 2 bobbins. it's 3ply, 321yds/108g. fiber is from delly's delights, bought at rhinebeck 2008. the yarn is sportweight, about 14wpi, spun worsted style. i still can't get good yardage from a 3ply. i have the same fiber in pink to spin for a pair of colorwork socks. i'm not sure when i'll get to it though.

i finally broke down and bought a pair of cedar sock blockers. these are from fearless fibers. i really like them so far.
Interlocking Leaves
my 3rd pair of socks of 2009 are interlocking leaves from knitty fall 2008. I used fearless fibers merino sock yarn in Glorious Green and #1 addi turbos. i knit the size S. i like the way the pattern looks, though the yarn obscures the pattern a bit. i didn't enjoy knitting these much though--not the fault of the pattern--i think i just lost my sock mojo halfway through.
Interlocking Leaves
i'm participating in the Rubberneckers Spinning Swap on Ravelry. this is ~4oz of Crown Mountain Farms superwash merino in under the boardwalk, all ready for plying.

  1. Woah! Your handspun evenness blows me away!

Some of my first merino was Delly's Delights in a black shade (there was some other subtle colors mixed in there--but it was mainly black).

  2. Great job spinning the merino! It looks professionally even!

    Me likes them socks, too!

  3. I may know nothing about spinning but I know a thing or two about working with black. Tedious as it reflects no light. Underlighting is sometimes helpful and sometimes eye straining.
I love that knitty sock pattern. I may have to go ahead and knit it. ;)
