A Socky New Year

Marlene
i finished a pair of gift socks that i can't show yet, but i can show my newest wip.

i cast on for marlene from knit1 fall/winter 2008. it's a cookie a pattern that is like the twisted rib version of monkeys. i'm using my turmeric dyed kp bare. i love how this pattern is knitting up. the pattern is really intuitive and easy to memorize.

i started on #2 addi turbos, but the sock was way too large so i restarted on #1s. the pattern calls for 6 st/in using sport weight yarn over 72 stitches, which seems entirely too big to me. my sock cuff appears to fit fine so far.

i also got a package in the mail today courtesy of my work gift card. a 50/50 rambouillet/silk batt from Crystal Creek Fibers.
Crystal Creek Fibers Batt
5oz of gorgeously shiny and soft fiber. i'm thinking low twist singles at the moment, like malabrigo silk merino.

i'm thoroughly enjoying my time away from work. happy weekend.
