Marlene from Knit1, Fall/Winter 2008
Marlene from Knit1, Fall/Winter 2008. ~60g of knitpicks bare tweed, kettle dyed with turmeric. #1 addi turbos at 8.5 st/inch. Started January 1, Finished January 5. 2nd pair of 2009.

I originally knit the cuff on #2 addi turbos, but it was way too large. the smaller gauge fits well. I only knit 2" for the heel flap, and pretty much winged it from the gusset on. the pattern photo shows the toe knit in twisted rib, while the pattern states to knit in stockinette. i kept it in rib.

this pattern was easy to execute and fun to knit, and it looks much more complicated than it really is. i love how my handdyed tweed yarn shows off the pattern. i would definitely knit this pattern again if i didn't have so many other socks in the queue.

  5. Oh Knotty, I wanted to tell you that in spinning the fiber I purchased from RL Lindsay, there are a few felted bits in it -- not the cashmere -- but the other wool. I do not believe it is effecting the spinning, but I did want to let you know in case you are considering purchasing fiber from them. Like I said, I am very happy with the fiber.

Oh, and some input please. Have you used Jaquard (sp?) dyes? If so, do you like them? Thanks!

  6. VERY cool socks - and that twisted rib does not look like it was all that easy to execute!
    Nice turmeric dyeing too!
