more spinning

i started cutting out a new quilt, took crappy and unusable pictures of 2 more hats, set the twist on more handspun, worked on a pair of socks, and all i have to show for it is some unrelated spinning pictures.
1 lb Alpaca from Mountain View/Sheep Shed
this is an old pic of the pound of alpaca i got at rhinebeck. the little white ties turned out to be a huge pain in the ass, as there are many of them and they are tied way too tightly and proved difficult to remove.

this alpaca isn't easy to spin but i'm having a much smoother time now that i started predrafting it. i love how the colors blend together to make a deep purple. i'm aiming for a 2ply worsted weight.

i spun up 3 woolee winder bobbins and next i will finally try out the regular flyer and bobbins. i hope to have enough yarn for a sweater, but we'll see.

  2. Oooo...I've got some merino nearly the same color. Only 1/2 a pound though. I really should spin the other 4 ozs!

  3. That's a lovely deep purple. Wouldn't have thought that from looking at the roving... beautiful.
