Cat + Clothes = Funny

Prep School Cat
There might be something in this world that is funnier than putting a sweater vest on your cat. At the moment, I can't think of anything.

Wyatt was born to model.

I will be writing up the pattern as soon as I find time to add a couple of sizes that will fit more normal-sized cats. Wyatt is the lumbering giant of kitties, and his sweater dwarfs Ellie (though she is no bean pole, either)

In more serious news, my efforts to spin fake malabrigo continue. I did a much better job this time. 390 yds / 130 g of handspun singles 19 micron merino, kettle dyed with wiltons and easter egg dye.
Lagoon handspun merino
i carded the merino into rolags and spun woolen for a delightfully lightweight and squishy yarn. i also fulled/abused the crap out of it during finishing using a spare (clean) plunger and a whole lot of thwacking against the bathtub.

i love the yarn. it's like squeezing kittens. i honestly think i could just buy a lifetime supply of this stuff and be perfectly happy spinning it forever. i am knitting it up now into Liesl (ravelry link). i finished the first sleeve this morning and i plan to knit the body until i run out of yarn. i can hardly believe that i can get an entire sweater out of just 130 g of yarn.

  1. oh man, that vest is great! I think Claw would kick my ass if I put her in a vest (though she would probably love it if I let her just sleep on top of it).

your 'faux malabrigo' looks great! Spinning low-twist singles is not as easy as a non-spinner might think. can't wait to see your liesl!

  2. Are those little fishies on that cat vest? Just adorable. The cat is very pretty too. I love a dark gray cat.

  3. Those pictures are the funniest thing I've seen all day. Your baby really does look like a grown up version of my Sirius; he'd most definitely throw a shitfit if I put any kind of clothing on him. He's such a princess!

  4. LOL - actually, I'm surprised that Wyatt looks to be enjoying himself while wearing it! Most cats get that "I'm so going to yak in your shoes later" look when they get gussied up!

    That faux Malabrigo looks fantastic!
