it bears repeating

so i know i say this all the time, but i'll say it again--i have the best boyfriend in the universe. for starters, he knows that i don't have knitting books at my work library and always have to get them through interlibrary loan, so he brought me a knitting book from his local library. and that book happened to be dominknitrix, which he assures me he gave with no hints intended. i was surprised when i was thumbing through it that there are some pretty nice sweater patterns in there, including a gorgeous garter-stitch coat.

i went to Village Yarn and Fiber to pick up some more wool wash and to get some yarn for an Xmas gift. i found 2 skeins of cascade 220 superwash (on sale, no less).

i'm making my friends some winter accessories as a thank you gift. i've already started one scarf in patons sws.
Child's Rainbow Scarf
it's the Child's Rainbow Scarf from last minute knitted gifts. i'm using patons sws in natural navy and natural earth on #9 bamboo dpns (b/c i no longer own straights). i really like how subtle the stripes are knitting up.

i also couldn't resist visiting the fiber room. i picked up 2 oz of shetland/angora from high bid farms. it was only $4. i remember once upon a time i was committed to not building up a fiber stash. yeah, it's not going so well. i figure i'm like a packrat, hoarding for the onset of winter.

but back to the beginning of this post. spicy said he wanted to get me some "really good stuff." so i looked around the store for a long time. i couldn't make up my mind and i was wandering around aimlessly like i tend to do when i get overwhelmed by so many choices. he picked up some skeins and said, "what about this stuff? it's Mongolian goat." and in his hands were 2 skeins of laceweight jojoland cashmere.

so now i am the proud owner of 800 yards of pretty pretty beige cashmere that is so deliciously soft. i can't decide if i should make gloves or a lacy scarf, but either way i still have the best boyfriend ever.

I love that scarf. Is it knit with two different self striping yarns?
