I REPEAT: The stripes are horizontal

now i'm starting to see why it would've been better to cut out all the pieces in the beginning. i had just finished telling myself to remember that the stripes on the background are all horizontal. when i made the first block, it was a complete accident that it ended up that way. i almost wish that it hadn't, because then i would've made the stripes go any which way they damn well felt like it, and although it might not've looked too pretty at least it would've been easier to cut.

but noooo--they had to be horizontal. i cut out the background strips for these two blocks 3 times. despite telling my brain multiple times to get it right, my brain decided to take a separate course. if i ever want to make a second quilt with this background fabric (which i won't), i will be all set to make it with vertical stripes.

at any rate, here are blocks #6 and #7. i only have 2 left to go. let's hope i can remember to cut them out correctly.

  1. Whether or not it is on purpose, that is coming out great!

  2. It's very pretty. Maybe a PITA, but the result is fabulous.

  4. But having them go different ways would be a cool design feature! Embrace the asymmetry!

  5. It looks great so (hopefully) when you look at the beautiful finished product you'll forget what a PITA the process was and move on to the next one.

  6. It's going to be fine. The over all design will take the eye away from the pinstripe here and there that isn't perfectly aligned. You can see the problems, but no one else will. It looks good.
